Sidewinder weapon system is a Less Lethal riot and crowd control device, the gun propels non-lethal biodegradable 6mm & 8m ammo at a rate of 90 to 150 rounds per second or (5,440 to 9,000 per minute). The Sidewinders high cyclical rate of fire achieves instant compliance from persons targeted by this system via Less Lethal pain-stimulus. The Sidewinder is capable of propelling 6mm paint filled round used in conjunction with 6mm pain rounds to mark human targets for easy visual identification during and after the initial conflict.
The Sidewinder weapon system is a fully gas operated unit available in full automatic mode only, but short bursts of 3 to 10 rounds are readily achieved. Current magazine capacity is between 2000 & 1600 rounds of 6mm biodegradable ammo. The Sidewinder is powered by CO2 or high pressure air (HPA); HPA is recommended for sustained firepower requirements. The CO2 or HPA source may be directly attached to the fore-grip of the weapon, or a flexible hose option is available for carrying a larger gas source on the leg, back or vehicle of the operator. Muzzle velocity is factory adjustable only and can be set between 300 to 600fps FPS depending on the end user
requirements.
The National Academy of Sciences, in conjunction with the U.S. Marine Joint Non-Lethal Weapons Directorate has determined that the ten desirable characteristics of a non-lethal weapon system be:
That the effects on the target are significant and repeatable.
That there be rheostatic capabilityof the system.
That there be selective targeting.
That it be portable by a person or existing vehicle.
That there be standoff and range.
That there be ease of clean up after use.
That there be developmental maturity.
Thatit be complementary or synergistic technology.
That acquisition and operational costs such as training, maintenance, and reuse be reasonable.
That it is robust to counter-measures
The Sidewinder weapon system is the only available product in the marketplace that fulfills all these specifications.
